ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed herein is an inertial guidance system for determining the orientation in space of an axis defined in the system and for determining the position of a movable supporting structure when the inertial guidance system is supported by such movable structre which is normally a vehicle. The inertial guidance system comprises a platform suspended for pendulous displacement about the axis whose orientation is to be determined. An accelerometer and a two-degree-of-freedom gyroscope are mounted to the plat- form, with both the sensitive axis of the accelerometer and the spin axis of the gyroscope being oriented in the direction of the axis.
