A mount (20) with low stiffness in two directions oriented with one of the low stiffness directions vertically to provide isolation. Two elastomeric layers (38, 40) are bonded to an inner member's (32) two non-parallel, non-planar surfaces (42, 44) and to a pair of plates (34, 36). Plates and inner member have contoured, non-planar surfaces whose configuration increases an axial stiffness of the mount so that, for example, a truck cab's lateral motion can be minimized. The inner member's non-parallel, non-planar surfaces, preferably match the plate's non-parallel, non-planar configuration, such that the elastomer is formed into a v-shaped configuration, for example. The inner member, two elastomeric layers and two plates form a mount subassembly (30) that is preferably installed into a generally cylindrical housing (22). The housing and the outside faces of the plates preferably have a mating contour which provides an alignment feature. For example, the housing may have a pair of inward protrusions (50, 52) formed in the tubular housing that engage notches (46, 48) on two plates. The housing's inner dimension is less than the subassemblies maximum outer dimension thereby compressing the elastomeric layers. The preload enhances durability and the notches perform a locator function.

L'invention concerne un support (20) qui possède deux sens à rigidité réduite et qui est orienté verticalement dans l'un des sens à rigidité réduite pour assurer l'isolation. Deux couches d'élastomère (38, 40) sont collées à deux surfaces non parallèles non planes (42, 44) d'une pièce interne (32) et à deux plaques (34, 36). Les plaques et la pièce interne possèdent des surfaces profilées non planes dont la forme augmente la rigidité axiale du support, ce qui permet, par exemple, de réduire au minimum les déplacements latéraux d'une cabine de camion. De préférence, on adapte les surfaces non parallèles non planes de la pièce interne à la configuration non parallèle non plane de la plaque pour créer, par exemple, une configuration en V de l'élastomère. La pièce interne, les deux couches d'élastomère et les deux plaques forment un sous-ensemble (30) de support que l'on installe de préférence dans un boîtier généralement cylindrique (22). Le boîtier et les surfaces extérieures des plaques possèdent un profil d'appariement permettant l'alignement. Le boîtier peut, par exemple, posséder deux saillies (50, 52) tournées vers l'intérieur et formées dans le boîtier tubulaire, qui rentrent dans les encoches (46, 48) sur les deux plaques. Les dimensions intérieures du boîtier sont inférieures aux dimensions extérieures maximales des sous-ensembles; de ce fait, les couches d'élastomère sont comprimées. La précontrainte augmente la durabilité et les encoches servent de repères.
