L-1648 A SELF BONDING REFRACTORY COMPOSITION OF ALUMINA AND CHROME OXIDE Abstract of the Invention A refractory composition useful as a furnace lining has been prepared which comprises from 55% to 93% fused or tabular alumina grain, 4% to 18% fused or tabular alumina fines, 0% to 10% calcined alumina and 3% to 17% chromic oxide. This refractory material when dry rammed or vibrated to form a furnace lining is self bonding during the initial heat up.
