SBBC is a device that allows to move/feed a rod ONLY in one direction. This one directional feed is made possible by the balls housed between the conical base surface of the housing, that has a reverse angle smaller than the braking angle, and a rod surface. With this design, the balls do not restrict the rod movement in the angle opening direction. However, if the rod were to be moved in the opposite direction, the balls would be wedged between the conical base surface of the housing and the rod surface, thus completely restricting the rod movement. The principle of the self-braking lock is the basic idea for the ball feeding type designs, ball catchers in safety systems, lifting and transportation mechanisms, as well as for easy length adjustable link.
