A self-cleaning rotary tool for dressing welding electrodes. The tool comprises a hollow generally cylindrical body receiving a planar blade member for rotation therewith. The blade member has a pair of cutting edges slightly recessed relative to respective longitudinal end portions of the tool body and capable of simultaneously re-surfacing a pair of welding electrodes in opposed relationship. The planar blade member and the inner walls of the tool body form a pair continuous coextensive channels for discharging metal chips produced during the electrode machining operation, thereby preventing the tool from becoming clogged after performing multiple electrode dressing cycles.
