A liquid crystal display flight indicator unit (20) having the capability to display a horizontal situation indicator (HSI) or an attitude direction indicator (ADI) on the viewing area (32) of the same unit. Signals from existing aircraft electronics are processed to determine whether the incoming signal is an HSI or ADI graphical image to be displayed on the viewing area (32). A unique component layout is described to enable HSI and ADI to be contained within a unit (20) having a chassis (30) size not larger than previously known HSI and ADI units.

Des signaux provenant des systèmes électroniques d'avions existants sont traités afin de déterminer si le signal entrant est une image graphique d'HSI ou d'ADI à afficher dans la zone de visualisation (32). Une disposition de composants unique est décrite, laquelle permet à l'HSI et à l'ADI d'être tous deux contenus dans un seul dispositif (20) dont les dimensions du boîtier (30) ne sont pas supérieures à celles de dispositifs HSI et ADI de la technique actuelle.
