A self drilling anchor for use in a friable material mounted on a member comprises an elongated body having an axis, an axial bore adapted to receive an elongated fastener, a flared end having torque transmitting surfaces therein, a proximal portion, an intermediate portion, a distal portion, and a drilling tip generally opposite the flared end, wherein the proximal portion has a threaded exterior having a root, a crest diameter, and a thread height, the intermediate portion has a threaded exterior having a root, a crest diameter substantially smaller than the crest diameter of the proximal portion, and a thread height substantially smaller than the thread height of the proximal portion, and the distal portion has a threaded exterior with a root that tapers toward the drilling tip, a crest diameter substantially smaller than the crest diameter of the proximal portion, and a thread height substantially smaller than the thread height of the proximal portion.
La présente invention concerne un ancrage autotaraudeur destiné à un usage dans une matière friable montée sur un organe. L'ancrage autotaraudeur comprend un corps oblong qui présente un axe, un alésage axial conçu pour recevoir une attache oblongue, une extrémité évasée ayant des surfaces de transmission de couple, une partie proximale, une partie intermédiaire, une partie distale et une extrémité de taraudage généralement vis-à-vis de l'extrémité évasée. La partie distale comporte un extérieur fileté ayant un fond de filet qui s'amincit vers l'extrémité de taraudage, un diamètre de sommet de filet sensiblement plus petit que celui de la partie proximale et une hauteur de fil sensiblement plus petite que celle de la partie proximale.
