FE.2696 SELF-EXTINGUISHING POLYOLEFIN COMPOSITIONS HAVING IMPROVED RESISTANCE TO HEAT AND THERMO-OXIDATION ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE There are disclosed self-extinguishing compositions based on olefin homo- or copolymers, such as polypropylene, polyethylene, or ethylene-propylene copolymers and comprising, in addition to the olefin polymer, an ammonium phosphate, and at least one nitrogen-containing compound selected from (a) benzyl-quanamine, (b) reaction products of aldehydes with quanamines of the formula Image in which R is phenyl or benzyl; or (c) reaction products of aldehydes with two nitrogen-containing compounds, one of which has the formula: Image in which R' is H, NH2, phenyl or benzyl, and the other nitrogen-containing compound being one containing the functions Image and/or Image and Image inserted in a cyclic structure.
