The invention provides the combination of a seat frame (14), a cover (16), having a seam (18), covering the seat frame (14). An air bag unit (11) is disposed inside the cover (16) and is mounted to the frame (14). A pair of intensifier sheets (20) sandwich the air bag unit (11) there between. Each of the sheets (20) has a first edge (22) connected to the seam (18) and a second edge (24) supported by the seat frame (14). The combination is characterized by an interlocking fastener (26) having outboard (28) and inboard (30) portions mechanically interlocked with the outboard portion (28) connected to one of the second edges (24) and the inboard portion (30) connected to the other of the second edges (24). Each of the outboard (28) and inboard (30) portions includes a back panel (32) extending in a strip between opposite ends (35). A plurality of J-shaped hooks (34) are disposed in side by side relationship between the opposite ends (35). A plurality of slots (36) separate adjacent J-shaped hooks (34) and support ribs (38) extend from the back panel (32) and support each of the J-shaped hooks (34).
