ABSTRACT A self-propelled combine-harvester has a threshing unit that operates in tangential flow and is arranged at right angles to the direction of travel, and a separating device connected thereto that operates in axial flow and is arranged longitudinally to the direction of travel. A grain-chaff return screw with associated trough is arranged on both sides of the separating device, in such a way that the lower limiting surface of the separating device lies at one and the same level as the lower limiting surface of the troughs associated with the grain-chaff screws. Through this the separating device can be arranged as low as possible in the housing of the combine-harvester so that a favourable centre of gravity position for the combine-harvester results. At the same time the undesired structural height is avoided.
