ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Self-propelled lawn edging shears are disclosed comprising shears mounted at the bottom of a first shaft, a second shaft being mounted parallel to the first shaft for operatively engaging the shears and for driving a wheel positioned at the bottom of the first and second shaft, through a ratched and pawl arrangement whereby the wheel is driven only on the upward stroke of the second shaft in which the jaws of the shears are opened.
