SELF TENSIONING BELT DRIVE Abstract of the Disclosure In a V-belt drive, the driven sheave is carried on a frame pivoted so that center distance between driver and driven sheaves can change. The position of the frame pivot is chosen so that the torque reaction of the driven load results in an induced torque about the pivot axis tending to increase belt tension appropriately as the driven load increases.
