A female fastener (20) having a self-threading bore (22) for threaded receipt of a conventional male threaded fastener which forms a substantially continuous female thread without tapping having a prevailing torque. The bore includes a cylindrical internal surface (32) and a plurality of circumferentially spaced concave recesses (34) having a total volume equal to an annulus defined by a major diameter and an inner diameter of the cylindrical surface less the volume of the recesses. A method of forming self~- attacking fasteners by rolling a continuous metal strip having a central pilot, piercing spaced self-threading bores through the pilot and either severing the pilot or the strip and the individual fasteners may be connected by a frangible connector.

L'invention concerne une fixation femelle possédant un alésage à filetage automatique conçu pour recevoir par vissage une attache filetée mâle classique et formant un filet femelle sensiblement continu sans taraudage à couple d'autoblocage. Ledit alésage comprend une surface interne cylindrique et plusieurs évidements concaves espacés sur la circonférence, possédant un volume total égal à l'anneau délimité par le diamètre principal et un diamètre intérieur de la surface cylindrique. Un procédé de fabrication de fixations d'attache automatique par laminage d'une bande métallique continue possédant un pilote central, de perçage d'alésages à filetage automatique espacés à travers le pilote et de séparation du pilote de la bande, est décrit. Lorsque la bande est séparée en fixations distinctes, ces dernières peuvent être reliées entre elles par une liaison cassante sans réorientation des fixations.
