ABSTRACT OF INVENTION A method for controlling selected switching between preset welding schedules in a MIG welding operation, in response to operation from a single toggle switch having only an on and off position selection. The state of the toggle switch position is continuously interrogated to determine the posi- tion it occupied. Once in the on position a first preset schedule of welding parameters is initialized. If the toggle switch is placed in the off position and a second preset schedule ecists a timing opera- tion is initiated to switch to the second schedule of parameters provided the toggle switch is reoperated during the time period.
