ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention in this divisional application relates to an apparatus for assembling packaging means, of the parent appli- cation, around an item and for packaging the item in the packaging means. The apparatus includes a loading station at which a blank is laid flat down. The item, with end caps mounted, is placed on the blank at the loading station, and arm means at the front and the rear of the blank move upwardly to fold the blank on both sides of the item. An endless conveyor over the blank and item then folds the top end of the carton to provide the four sided carton. An end flap of the top end is then forced downwardly by means extending downwardly from the end- less conveyor. Adhesive may be manually applied or may be automatically applied.
