18343 ABSTRACT The invention concerns blanks of copper or a copper alloy in the form of bars, tubes, profiles, sheet or strip which is intended especially for chip removal machining. It is characterized, therefore, especially for bored, turned or milled parts. According to the invention the copper or copper alloy is provided with a chip breaking additive in the form of 0.01 to 10% carbon, preferably 0.01 to 2% carbon in the form of graphite particles or carbon black particles. The raw material body used to produce the blank is obtained by spray compaction. - 15 -
