A semi-rigid, light weight insulation blanket (20) is composed of a skeleton (12) having porous cavities sandwiched between layers of fiber glass (10). The polyimide foam skeleton (12) prevents sagging particularly in crown and upper sidewall areas of an aircraft thereby maintaining a predetermined offset from the skin fuselage reducing corrosion of the primary structure from moisture condensate. This configuration provides similar acoustic performance with reduced weight.

Une couverture isolante semi-rigide et légère (20) est constituée d'une couche centrale (12) ayant des cavités poreuses, prise en sandwich entre des couches de fibres de verre (10). La couche centrale en mousse de polyimide (12) empêche un affaiblissement de la structure, en particulier au plafond et dans les parties supérieures des parois latérales d'un avion. On peut garder ainsi un certain espacement par rapport aux panneaux du fuselage, ce qui diminue la corrosion de la structure primaire causée par la condensation d'humidité. Cette couverture a une efficacité acoustique identique avec un poids plus faible.
