ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention is a semiautomatic stapler for affixing a tag from a roll of tags onto a surface. The stapler includes a rotatable pivot indexing arm for moving the tag into position fox affixing onto the surface. A cylinder may be provided for rotating the indexing arm, and an index stop pin is provided for limiting pivotable movement of the rotatable pivot indexing arm. In this way, tags of various lengths may be affixed by the stapler. The roll of tags is held within the automatic stapler.
