ABSTRACT An MOS sense amplifier having a differential amplifier circuit, a hysteresis circuit and a precharging circuit. The differential amplifier circuit has a plurality of amplifier stages and a level shifter to yield digital level outputs. The hysteresis circuit responsive to an input signal, provides one of two reference voltages to the differential amplifier. The precharge circuit charges the system capacitances and provicles a bias voltage to the differential amplifier to enable amplification of small signals.
