An object (12-1) in a storage area or moving vehicle (12-6) is monitored by attaching an electronic tag (16-1) to the object. An electronic device (15) detects the presence of the object (12-1) by communicating with the tag (16-1) while the object is in storage or is being moved by the vehicle (12-6). The tags (16-1-16-n) may also determine location of an attached object (12-1-12-n) and may reroute the object if it deviates from a given shipping schedule. Each tag has circuitry (102) for communicating information relating to an object in the group to a second tag. Each tag also includes a memory (104) connected to the circuitry (102) that is capable of storing the information, and a controller (106) connected to the memory (104) and the circuitry (102). A sensor (18) is used to detect the condition of an object and communicate the condition to a tag.
On surveille un objet (12-1) dans une aire de stockage ou dans un véhicule en mouvement (12-6) au moyen d'une étiquette électronique (16-1) qui lui est attachée. Un dispositif électronique (15) détecte la présence de l'objet (12-1) en communiquant avec l'étiquette (16-1) pendant que l'objet se trouve dans l'aire de stockage ou en mouvement dans le véhicule (12-6). Les étiquettes (16-1 à 16-n) peuvent aussi déterminer la position d'un objet associé (12-1 à 12-n) et peuvent réacheminer l'objet s'il dévie d'un parcours donné. Chaque étiquette possède un circuit (102) lui permettant de communiquer les informations concernant tout objet d'un groupe à une seconde étiquette. Chaque étiquette comporte aussi une mémoire (104) connectée au circuit (102) et capable de stocker les informations, et un contrôleur (106) connecté à ladite mémoire (104) et audit circuit (102). Un détecteur (18) est utilisé pour détecter l'état d'un objet et en informer l'étiquette.
