-15- ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The separating device is based on the principle of a simple filtering operation in order to extract the sound signal from the "image plus sound" signal delivered by a television transmitter. The device comprises subtraction means whereby a processing signal obtained from the intermediate-frequency image signal Fi is subtracted from a signal collected at the output of the transmitter. Adjustment of the transit time, amplitude and phase of the processing signal makes it possible by means of this subtraction to remove from the collected signal all image frequencies which are close to the sound frequencies to be extracted, with the result that the sound signal can thus more readily be obtained by filtering.
