APPARATUS FOR SEPARATING TWO IMMISCIBLE LIQUID PHASES OF DIFFERENT DENSITIES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for separating two immiscible liquid phases of different densities is set forth, and comprises a decanting chamber having two opposite walls. Within that chamber, there are provided two internal deflecting walls. one below the other, one of which obliquely adjoins one of the opposite walls, and the other of which obliquely joins the other of the opposite walls. A passage is formed, co-operating with the side walls and the deflector walls, to form a passage which has a bottom exit and a top exit. An inlet is provided to introduce to the chamber a liquid which is to be treated, where the inlet opens into the passage in a direction which faces the lower one of the deflector walls. In a preferred embodiment, a coalescing chamber is provided which receives the heavy phase from the decanting chamber, and which contains coalescing means for causing any light phase which still accompanies the heavy phase to coalesce.
