ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A separation device for automatically releasing a parachute from a load consists of a body attachable to para- chute lines and having a hook for engaging a load line. An ejector member is spring urged towards an ejection position for ejecting the load line from the hook and a frangible connector serves to temporarily retain the load line until after the parachute has operated. While the parachute is falling, tension holds the load line on the hook and when the load reaches the ground the ejector member operates to release the lines from the hook.
