This invention involves a process for separating a feed gas stream containing at least one initial constituent and one second constituent, by: preferential adsorption of the said initial constituent, at a high pressure of adsorption, on at least one bed of particles of an adsorbent material, and recovery of a gas stream enriched in the said second constituent; and by desorption of the said initial component at a low pressure of desorption. The process is characterized by a ratio (µ/.sigma.) of between 1.5 and 15 between the average particle size (µ) of the adsorbent particles in the said bed and the particle size distribution range (.sigma.) of the said particles.
