Abstract of the Disclosure The invention is a method of and an apparatus for separating a gaseous mixture containing components of different specific gravities into fractions to obtain a fraction enriched in one component of the mixture,which method comprises centrifuging the gaseous mixture, subjecting the gaseous mixture emerging from the centrifugation to turbulent flow in a boundary layer, to cause the heavy component to diffuse from the boundary layer, and withdraw- ing from the boundary layer a fraction enriched with the lighter component of the gaseous mixture. The invention is particularly suitable for obtaining a U235 enriched fraction from uranium hexafluoride.
