ABSTRACT Cobalt is selectively removed from an aqueous acidic leach solution in a solvent extraction process using a nickel salt of an organophosphoric acid, preferably di-2-ethyl hexyl phosphoric acid. The nickel salt may be regenerated in a single continuous step.
