QMD 36512 ABSTRACT SEPARATION OF HYPOHALOUS ACIDS FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS THEREOF CONTAINING HALIDE IONS A process for the separation of a hypohalous acid from an aqueous solution of a hypohalous acid containing halide ions by contacting the aqueous solution of the hypohalous acid containing halide ions with a first face of a porous membrane of a hydrophobic material and contacting an aqueous liquid with A second face of the membrane. The hypohalous acid is preferably hypochlorous acid and the aqueous liquid is preferably sodium hydroxide.
