ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION An improved process for separating lead from noble metals, e.g. silver, comprising reacting the lead and noble metals in the presence of each other to complex lead values to a water-soluble form and reduce noble metals to a water-insoluble form. Preferably the reactions are effected by a reducing sugar in an aqueous chloride solution.
