SEPARATION OF SEA PLANTS Abstract of the Disclosure Sea plants containing kappa carrageenan are separated from those containing lambda carrageenan by subjecting a mixture of such plants to preferential hydration of the lambda plants without substantial dissolution of carrageenan, and separating it from the kappa plants by selection based on water content or on properties related to or dependent on water content.
