Processes are disclosed for production of value-added products from fluid admixtures of hydrocarbon compounds at least one of which is an aromatic hydrocarbon compound, by means of one or more devices using perm-selective polymeric membranes. More particularly, processes of the invention comprise separations using aromatic-selective polymeric materials comprising long-chain polymeric molecules in which recurring amide and imide linkages are part of the main polymer chain. Processes of the invention advantageously employ aromatic-selective membranes to separate ah aromatic enriched stream from gaseous and/or liquid mixtures comprising one or more aromatic hydrocarbon compounds thereby producing a stream comprising the remaining compounds which may include alkenes and/or alkanes containing 3 or more carbon atoms, and/or alicyclic hydrocarbons. Processes of the invention are particularly useful for recovery of meta-xylene and para- xylene products from liquid mixtures even containing. ethylbenzene as well as the three xylene isomers.

L'invention concerne des processus pour la production de produits à valeur ajoutée à partir de mélanges de fluide de composés hydrocarbures dont au moins un est un composé hydrocarbure aromatique, au moyen d'un ou plusieurs dispositifs utilisant des membranes polymères à perméabilité sélective. Plus particulièrement, les processus de l'invention comprennent des séparations à l'aide de matériaux polymères sélectifs de groupes aromatiques comprenant les molécules polymères à longue chaîne dans lesquelles des liaisons amide et imide récurrentes font partie de la chaîne polymère principale. Les processus de l'invention emploient avantageusement des membranes sélectives de groupe aromatique pour séparer un courant enrichi en groupe aromatique à partir de mélanges gazeux et/ou liquides comprenant un ou plusieurs composés hydrocarbure aromatiques, produisant ainsi un courant comprenant les composés restants qui peuvent comprendre des alcènes et/ou des alcanes contenant 3 atomes de carbone ou plus, et/ou des hydrocarbures alicycliques. Les processus de l'invention sont particulièrement utiles pour la récupération de produits de méta-xylène et de para-xylène à partir de mélanges liquides contenant même de l'éthylbenzène ainsi que les trois isomères de xylène.
