There is disclosed a hydro-dynamic separator incorporating a solids interceptor (21) upstream of the overflow (19) for inter- cepting solid matter above a predetermined size entrained in liquid flowing towards the overflow (19), the solids interceptor (21) comprising: (a) a wall (51) terminating in an upper edge (51a) which constitutes a weir in the flow path of liquid flowing to the over- flow (19); (b) a barrier (53), extending from the said wall (51 ) towards a solids collection region (55), said barrier (53) comprising a plurality of openings (69) to permit flow of liquid therethrough but to retain solids, the upper surface of the barrier (53) being dis posed such that solids retained on the barrier (53) are washed across the surface by the flow of liquid towards the solids collection region (55); and (c) a liquid collection region (59) beneath the barrier (53) for collecting liquid flowing through the openings (69) in the barrier (53), said liquid collection region (59) being in fluid communication with the overflow (19) of the separator.

L'invention se rapporte à un séparateur hydrodynamique comprenant un élément d'arrêt (21) de matières solides, placé en amont de la surverse (19), conçu pour intercepter les matières solides d'une taille supérieure à une taille prédéterminée entraînées dans un liquide s'écoulant vers ladite zone de surverse (19), l'élément d'arrêt (21) comprenant: (a) une paroi (51) se terminant par un bord supérieur (51a) qui constitue un déversoir dans le trajet d'écoulement du liquide en direction de la surverse (19); (b) une barrière (53) s'étendant de ladite paroi (51) vers une zone de collecte (55) de matières solides, et comprenant une pluralité d'ouvertures (69) laissant passer le liquide et retenant les solides, la surface supérieure de la barrière (53) étant disposée de façon que les matières solides retenues sur la barrière (53) soient entraînées sur cette surface par l'écoulement de liquide vers la zone de collecte (55); et (c) une zone de collecte (59) de liquide, située sous la barrière (53) et conçue pour recueillir le liquide s'écoulant à travers les ouvertures (69) pratiquées dans cette dernière, ladite zone de collecte (59) étant en communicaiton fluidique avec la surverse (19) du séparateur.
