ABSTRACT In known separator devices for transfer medium, a separating belt has been disposed between an image-bearing member such as a photosensitive medium or the like and a transfer medium to which the image on the image-bearing member is to be trans- ferred, and the separating belt has been fatigued by being sub- jected to localized friction with respect to the image-bearing member and/or a rotating member for effecting the separation. In the present invention, the separating belt is gradually moved in accordance with the separating device, whereby such localized friction is reduced and the belt need not be replaced as frequently.
