A separator for fuel cell having a bending strain at break of 0.5% or more, a compressive modulus of 20 CPa or less, or a Shore hardness falling within the range of from 20 to 50, preferably made of a molded body including graphite and a resin, as well as a separator for fuel cell made of a molded body including graphite and a resin, wherein, after soaking the separator at 80°C for 100 hours in water 30 times as much as the molded body by volume, the total concentration of the sodium, potassium, iron, nickel and magnesium released into the soaking water is 20 ppm or less, and the concentration of the sulfur released into the soaking water is 30 ppm or less, can provide a fuel cell which is excellent in the assembly soundness of the fuel cell stack and in which the deterioration of the cell properties hardly occurs even for a long time operation.
