Disclosed herein are growth hormone-releasing factor derivatives characterized in that they have a rearranged amino acid sequence at positions 17 and 18 (i.e. Ser at position 17 and Leu at position 18) and that they may be optionally substituted at various positions including 1, 2, 15, 21, 24 and 27. The derivatives are useful for treating growth hormone deficiences and for promoting growth in animals, including humans.
