ABSTRACT A series capacitor protective circuit is provided in which a linear resistor in series with a non-linear resistor are connected in parallel with the series capacitor. A spark gap is also connected in parallel with the series capacitor and the series connected resistors. The spark gap conducts current, to protect the series capacitor, when triggered into conduction or when the volt- age across it exceeds a preselected value. -- 1 --
