ABSTRACT A service thermostat and master processor for a tempera- ture control system having a communication bus. The thermostat has a processor, a switching means, and a bus interface. The processor is configured such that the processor uses an identifying bus address signal over the bus interface, the bus address signal determined by the switching means. The master processor has a control processor and an address decode. The control processor coordinates communication over the bus. The address decode recognizes the bus addresses, and identifies normal and service thermostats by their bus addresses. The control processor ignores all normal thermostats after a service thermostat is recognized, giving the service thermostat control.
