A method in a communication system is disclosed. In the method a procedure for setting up a communication link between a first user equipment and a second user equipment via a communications network is initiated. Information regarding at least two modes of communication that can be used for communication via the communication link is signalled between the first and second user equipment. An indicator regarding a mode to be used for the communication is also signalled between the first user equipment and the second user equipment. After the signalling steps, a procedure for setting the mode of communication in accordance with the indicator is initiated in at least in one of the user equipment. According to an alternative embodiment, signalling for reserving a possibility for at least two different communication modes occurs between elements of the communication system.

Cette invention concerne une méthode relative à un système de communication. Selon cette méthode, une procédure est lancée pour l'établissement d'une liaison de communication entre un premier matériel utilisateur et un second matériel utilisateur via un réseau de communication. L'information concernant au moins deux modes de communication utilisables via la liaison de communication fait l'objet d'une signalisation entre le premier et le second matériel utilisateur. Un indicateur concernant un mode à utiliser pour la communication est également signalé entre le premier et le second matériel utilisateur. Une fois effectuées ces opérations de signalisation, une procédure de détermination du mode de communication est lancée dans au moins un des matériels utilisateurs. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, une signalisation intervient entre les éléments du système de communication pour réserver la possibilité d'utiliser au moins deux modes de communication différents.
