ABSTRACT A method and a system for automatically sewing predefined stitch patterns on a plurality of workpieces wherein the workpieces are prearranged in one or more coded pallets. The system comprises mechanisms for sensing the code present on a coded pallet and for accessing a stitch pattern assigned to the particularly sensed code in response to the sensing of the code present on the coded pallet. The assigned stitch pattern is then automatically sewn on the workpiece.
