SHAFT-FURNACE CONICAL WALL COOLING ARRANGEMENT Abstract An arrangement for cooling conical wall of a shaft fur- nace comprises banks arranged along the furnace wall, each consisting of two courses of firebrick of the same size with semicircular hollow parts forming a channel adapted to re- ceive a cooling pipe. The adjacent banks define a spacing variable in size along the vertical extent of the bank in accordance with the slope of the furnace wall. Each spacing is filled with a refractory insert. The cooling arrangement is simple in construction and durable in operation, which makes it possible to reduce the overhaul period of the furnace.
