SHAFT SEAL Abstract of the Disclosure A shaft seal has an elastomer load ring sealingly disposed between a cylindrical mounting surface and a sealing ring in a compressed condition to exert a radial load on the sealing ring which is constructed from a plastic-like material having a relatively low friction coefficient and a capability of being slowly deformed radially when a radial load is continuously exerted thereon.
