A shaft seal assembly (25) for maintaining a seal during shaft misalignment including a first seal (3) adja-cent the shaft with a defined clearance (6) between the shaft and the first seal, the shaft is moveable axially in relation to the first seal; a second seal (7), the first seal partially encompassed within the second seal and in cooperative communication with the second seal; a third seal (13), the second seal partially en-compassed within the third seal and in cooperative communica-tion with the third seal, the third seal attached to said housing or vessel and allowing the first seal and the second seal to cooper-atively respond to the forces produced by angular misalignment of the shaft during rotation of the shaft while maintaining de-fined clearance between the shaft and the seals.

L'invention concerne un ensemble joints (25) pour arbre destiné à maintenir un joint lors du désalignement de l'arbre et comprenant un premier joint (3) adjacent à l'arbre avec un écartement défini (6) entre l'arbre et le premier joint, l'arbre étant mobile axialement par rapport au premier joint; un second joint (7), le premier joint étant partiellement contenu à l'intérieur du second joint et en communication coopérative avec le second joint; un troisième joint (13), le second joint étant partiellement contenu dans le troisième joint et en communication coopérative avec le troisième joint, le troisième joint étant fixé audit logement ou contenant et permettant aux premier joint et second joint de réagir de façon coopérative aux forces produites par un désalignement angulaire de l'arbre pendant la rotation dudit arbre tout en maintenant un écartement défini entre l'arbre et les joints.
