A sealing system (2) to be inserted into the seal cavity of a rotary mechanical device to provide a seal and a bearing surface to eliminate whip in a rotating shaft (14). The sealing system (2) includes a split bushing element (31) to allow easy installation over the shaft (14). The bushing (31) is substantially cylindrical with an inner bore closely approximating the outer diameter of the shaft and includes a groove (36) at the motor end on the outer surface and a corresponding groove (37) on the inner surface to provide a lantern ring. Seal water openings (38) are provided between the outer groove (36) and inner groove (37) of the bushing (31). Generally, two or three packing rings (32) are added on the motor side to complete the shaft sealing system (2) for installation in the seal cavity.

La présente invention concerne un système de joint destiné à être inséré dans une cavité de joint d'un dispositif mécanique rotatif pour réaliser un joint et une surface portante en vue d'éliminer le fléchissement dans un arbre rotatif. Le système de joint comporte un élément de manchon fendu permettant une mise en place aisée sur l'arbre. Le manchon est sensiblement de forme cylindrique présentant un alésage interne ayant une dimension très proche du diamètre extérieur de l'arbre et comporte une rainure à l'extrémité motrice sur la face extérieure et une rainure correspondante sur la face intérieure pour réaliser une lanterne. Des orifices d'eau d'étanchéité sont prévus entre la rainure extérieure et la rainure intérieure du manchon. De manière générale, deux ou trois bagues d'étanchéité supplémentaires sont prévues du côté moteur pour compléter le système de joint destiné à être mis en place dans la cavité de joint.
