A de-icing system includes a thin sheet (100) of a shape memory alloy mounted over the leading edge surface (105) of an aircraft, with an electric heating layer (110) and a compressible polymer layer (120) therebetween. Upon detection of ice accretion on the surface of sheet (100), electric heating layer (110) heats the shape memory alloy layer to return it to its undeformed shape, thereby removing ice therefrom.
Un système de dégivrage comporte une fine tôle (100) d'un alliage à mémoire de forme montée sur la surface du bord d'attaque (105) d'un avion, une couche de chauffage électrique (110) et une couche polymère compressible (120) étant situées entre les deux. Lors de la détection de l'accumulation de glace sur la surface de la tôle (100), la couche de chauffage électrique (110) chauffe la couche en alliage à mémoire de forme pour lui redonner sa forme normale, en éliminant ainsi la glace.
