A rearview mirror assembly having a pivot structure (16) and first (44, 46) and second (48, 50) pairs of helical structures consisting of shape memory allow wires which serve to adjust the positin of the mirror. The wires may be individually heated by conducting an electrical current to effect the contracted memory position. When the current is switched off, a wire cools and can easily be stretched to mechanically transform the wire to a martensitic phase.

L'invention concerne un ensemble rétroviseur présentant une structure de pivot (16) ainsi qu'une première paire (44, 46) et une seconde paire (48, 50) de structures hélicoïdales constituées de fils en alliage à mémoire de forme servant à régler la position du rétroviseur. Les fils peuvent être chauffés individuellement par conduction d'un courant électrique afin d'obtenir la position de mémoire contractée. Lorsque le courant est coupé, un fil se refroidit et il peut être facilement détendu pour transformer mécaniquement le fil en une phase martensitique.
