The personal computer or computer terminal, being a useful addition to the office work environment, represents an intrusion into that environment. Sometimes the computer is simply added to the environment upon traditional furniture. Some designs which attempt to integrate the computer into the office, with varying degrees of success, have emerged. This newly invented design addresses the needs of a person utilizing a computer while also carrying out traditional office work. Rather than a traditional desk which has only one working edge for its user, the new design has two edges. The design offers two distinct working regions on a substantially flat surface which may be accessed by simply swivelling in a chair. Computer with peripherals are placed into one region, while the other region is available for traditional office work. A convenient interaction or overlap region exists between these two distinct regions. This new design, better than any previous, recognizes the ergonomics of the utilization of computers and terminals in the modern office environment. The preferred embodiment of this innovative design is a rectangle with a generous "V" notch cut into the middle of one of the long sides. A prototype has been built. It works better than expected.
