ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relate to shaped parts of foam based on an impregnatable synthetic resin foam. The cell of at least the foam material layers adjoining the periphery of the shaped part are provided with a silicate impregnation. The material impregnated an this manner may be additionally reinforced on at least one external surface with a continuous cover layer. The invention also relates to the production of the shaped parts. The parts are especially suitable for construction, insulation and packaging purposes and have improved fire proofness and increased compressive, tensile and flexural strenths.
