A system includes a first client device, a second client device and a server. A first authenticated (or secure and authenticated) communication link exists between the first client device and the second client device, and a second authenticated (or secure and authenticated) communication link exists between the first client device and the server. The second client device and the server lack an authenticated (or secure and authenticated) communication link therebetween. The first client device communicates a cryptographic key to the second client device and/or the server over the first link and/or the second link, respectively. The cryptographic key can be used to encrypt communications between the second client device and the server.
