A hygienic apparatus which totally dissolves sharps from such places as health-care centers, op- erating rooms, laboratories, and the like. The ap- paratus (50) accepts all sorts of metal sharp instru- ments The sharp metal portion (15A) is removed from any plastic component (15B) of the instru- ment. The plastic components are collected for ster- ilization (14A) through microwaves or similar pro- cess; the sharp metal instruments are dissolved us- ing electrolysis (55) and the liquid is discharged (63) into conventional sewer systems. The sharp in- struments, until their dissolution, are secured by a magnet (58) within the apparatus.
