A shatterproof fluorescent lamp (Figure 1, 3) is produced by extruding a polymeric coating (32a, 32b, 32c) over the lamp so that it intimately embraces substantially all of the external contours of the lamp, including its glass envelope (12) and end-ferrules (15). The lamp is passed through an air lock into the main lumen (28) of a crosshead (20) inward toward the lumen axis by an applied vacuum. A continuous chain of encapsulated lamps emerges from the crosshead that then may be cut apart to reveal individually completely encapsulated lamps.
L'invention concerne une lampe à l'épreuve de l'éclatement que l'on obtient en extrudant un revêtement polymère (32a, 32b, 32c) par-dessus la lampe de sorte qu'il épouse intimement sensiblement tous les contours extérieurs de la lampe, y compris son enveloppe de verre (12) et ses capsules de contact (15). Par aspiration sous vide, on fait passer la lampe à travers un sas dans la lumière principale (28) d'une traverse (20) vers l'intérieur en direction de l'axe de la lumière. Une chaîne continue de lampes encapsulées émerge de la traverse qui peut ensuite être découpée afin de découvrir complètement et individuellement les lampes encapsulées.
