ABSTRACT : The invention relates to a shaving apparatus having a shear plate with hair-entrance aper- tures and a cutting member with cutters, which is drivable relative to the shear plate. The cutters are provided with lead cutters which are movable relative to the cutters, which lead cutters are positioned against the shear plate with a sliding surface in the assembled condition. As a result of this the lead cutter, which will generally have a substantially smaller thickness than the cutter, may get into the hair entrance aperture with great risk of damage to the apparatus. In order to eliminate this drawback, the sliding surface of the lead cutter is given such a shape and dimension s that in each position relative to a hair- entrance aperture the sliding surface is in contact with the part of the shear-plate wall which adjoins the hair- entrance aperture. -10-
